German Black Metal band INFAUST return in late 2025 with their fourth full-length album Entseelt, released through House of Inkantation. It is their first studio release since 2017’s Verblichen, and marks a new chapter in the band’s history with the arrival of vocalist Mt. Beliar, who replaces longtime frontman Psycho after two decades.

Originally founded in 2000, INFAUST has developed a sound rooted in traditional Black Metal while slowly broadening their musical and lyrical depth. With Entseelt, the band presents a colder, more intricate version of their style, shaped by the chemistry of a now fully established line-up. The addition of Mt. Beliar introduced new vocal dynamics to the band’s palette — beyond harsh vocals, the album includes Silencer-style backing screams, spoken word passages, and layered choral textures that deepen the record’s atmosphere.

Musically, Entseelt advances INFAUST’s dissonant and melancholic character through the use of multilayered guitar and bass arrangements, creating a dense and shifting sound. While the album still carries the raw intensity of their earlier work, it now also moves through more complex harmonic spaces, making Entseelt a fundamental statement of Cold Thuringian Black Metal.

Thematically, the album is held together by a sense of detachment, loss, and inner decay. Though not a traditional concept album, each track is bound by an overarching atmosphere — one that reflects a world devoid of connection or hope. The lyrics explore personal and collective disintegration, the loss of identity, and the slow fading of meaning.

The album was written collectively in the rehearsal room over several years, and recorded and mixed by Mortifer at Rauschverteilung Studio, with drums captured in 2022 by Thomas Thiele at Cold Ground Studios. Mastering was completed by Greg Chandler (Priory Recording Studio, Birmingham) in 2025. Visuals were developed in close collaboration with House of Inkantation, with artwork and layout by Valkenstijn, and photography by Mortifer and Jeannette Zx.

Entseelt will be presented live for the first time at a special release show with Eisregen and Karg in December 2025. INFAUST has previously appeared alongside Taake, Denial of God, Grift, and others, and its members remain active in bands such as Mosaic, Path Beyond, Eclesios and Vivus Humare.
